The play follows the slow unravelling of playwright Doug, who discovers that he and his best friend Nicky are actually characters in a play. As they become increasingly aware of their situation, they appear to be trapped in a cycle, forced to repeat the same scene over and over again, continually being sent back to Act One.

The aim of the design was to support the growing sense of insanity and paranoia experienced by the characters, while also leaning into the self-awareness of the script and the fact that we are, ultimately, watching a play within a theatre. The design plays with theatrical conventions and the boundaries between what is real and what is constructed.
